Exhibition Reflection:
The project that I had done was mainly focused on Humanities Assignments that were done as a collective of students, Including Op-Eds, Honors Papers, and even some help with other projects such as music, art, and timeline. I wasn’t assigned the role but acted as a project manager when needed since some of the main projects I had worked on required communication with the grade and a little leadership in earlier stages of the project, I had planned from the beginning of what our project and exhibition would look like and how I could envision some of the main tasks I was given to be and I’d say it went pretty well. Our project / exhibition was mainly answering what our generation cares about and what our interests referring to movements were. The exhibition answered not only our interests but foreshadowed our future as a community and one self. The inspiration I took was from the whole class, being able to see everybody's ideas and to read what they cared about helped a lot with setting up some things for people, words that they would want to express. After the exhibition the perspective I gained was a sort of melancholy feeling of what the future holds and the fact that most of the students are going to go in wild directions and do incredible things, accomplishing the most they can. Though with that comes a split in community and how close we are, even though we still have a year and a half together it's strange to see everybody get ready to go on their own personal journey away from Animas.
The main insight that I found was related to my own studies on corruption in the music / film industry. It was very interesting to read about how it all works and the craziest things that have happened that aren't covered or talked about much. Now my social movement is far from being as important as environmental or war movements but still needs to be heard and so expressing some of the corruption, mentalities, and issues in this industry was very interesting. The facts about drug use, having cocaine be a more used drug than weed, Judy Garland’s torture during filming, and behind the scenes work on models, actors, and musicians was one of the most interesting things I have ever studied and I’d like to study more, I’m glad I chose to do this project! Also the Trial of The Chicago Seven was interesting mainly because I hadn’t ever heard about it before so It was nice to add some information about our history during the Vietnam War! Before I had this unit I couldn’t explain a single thing that had happened in the Vietnam War other than the US losing a majority of soldiers and citizens so it was good that I could finally study what was going on during that time.
Everything went according to plan, the exhibition for both Humanities and Chemistry, our projects, and the creation of the exhibition. We did very well on this one, maybe even better than before, i feel very proud of what we have accomplished, especially since it is one of our first exhibitions in the New Building! Very exciting to see what the future holds for Humanities and all classes in general for the following exhibitions we will have this year and the next!
