Overview
It's been a wild ride throughout junior year, I have faced many challenges with my work and improving it, so far I have joined two honors classes, became the webmaster for Journalism, and Advanced in my Music Classes. This year has been the most wild and creative year out of the past that I've had, I've grown and learned so much through this time, I learned to create an Album, learned to build a website, learned to be a student leader in my Chem Class, learned to rise above my expectations of what I am capable of. It was a productive year for me and one that will live on in my memory through the spectacular years to come!
Junior LINK Internship
'Dr Vaughn Johnson'
For my LINK Internship I went and worked at 'Dr Vaughn Johnson' an Orthodontist Office, I've always been interested in dental work and fascinated by it, I was given the opportunity to see how things run and work aswell. I worked on tools, molds, and organizing storage! My project for this LINK was interesting though and is still a work in progress. My project for this internship isn't much of a project at all, of course a side project I had was helping update their website and working on ideas to improve it! Though my main project was actually getting the job as an 'Orthodontist Assistant' during the summer!
- Making Molds for Patients
- Taking X-Rays
- Getting Patients Prepared
- Prepping Gear for Procedure
- Gathering data on the Patient.
For my project getting the job as one of the youngest employees there, I will have to complete a number of things, of course I had to complete actually introducing myself and showing my work ethic, but Dr. Vaughn Johnson only needs a limited amount of things for you to get the job at his office. One of these things was a good personality because "you can hire anyone based on intelligence, but a good personality is an important thing to look for"
I will soon be doing the OSHA / HIPPA Couse which goes through procedures & safety training for the job, it also teaches you and goes through the entire job. It's a test that takes around 10 hours of studying time which will make up the rest of my required internship time.

A lot of what is being studied depends on determining the issues & problems with a patients teeth and what to use to treat this patient, some common examples are of scanning for crowding (which can sometimes be easily seen, some calcium dificenties, as well as other problems such as cavaties and things that aren't commly seen. Then you have to associate which xray to which procedure, determine the tools being used, etc.
